Participation Guidelines |
Participation Guidelines Students are monitored on their academic progress and mentored if needed. School administrators and teachers regularly supply the MAYi instructors with updates on the student's school performance. Quarterly reviews are required of all participants. There is a strict no gang, no drug policy for all involved. The youth also participate in local community service projects as a means of giving back for their instruction. It also allows them to take ownership of their training and set an example of leadership within their own neighborhoods. Expectations for Student Participation - Twice a week attendance (unless active in site program available once a week) - Five hours a month documented community service (age appropriate) - Positive attitude - Respect for self and other in class - Best effort - No foul language to be permitted - Grade point of 2.5 or better (MAYi to assist if student needs) - Regular school attendance MAYi performs quarterly scholastic reviews through report cards, administrators, teachers, and parents. Each student is reviewed by the board of directors, instructional staff, and site personel. If issues arise we work as a team, format a plan of action, and speak with the student and family and set the plan in motion. Family is an important factor in the MAYi program. Staff becomes extended members of the students family. |
